Happy Patch Day

11 September is always an interesting day for me. For everybody in America, it's the day of the terrorist attacks on New York, one of the saddest events in recent history. But for me, it's also the anniversary of my first open source patch. Four years ago today (and in the wee hours of the morning), I sent in the first Configure script for Parrot.

I suppose it doesn't matter to anyone else, but to me it's an important day.

I'm probably going to get shot or something for saying this, but I don't attach that much importance to the date of 9/11 itself.

That is to say, except as the date affects me personally, I attach more importance to $event rather than $date (of event).

...if that makes any sense at all. And yes, I'm aware I'm using Perl-like variables here. It's all your fault. ^^

Filthy Lies has a good take on the subject, I think.

Ummm...not that I mind strangers reading my journal (it's a free Internet, after all), but who are you?
