Bought the new Muse album, "Black Holes & Revelations". "Supermassive Black Hole", "Map of the Problematique", "Exo-Politics", "City of Delusion" (once you get far enough into it), and "Knights of Cydonia" are love.

Incidentally, did the walkthrough today. Seven days until we get the keys to the new house.

Working on a "future history" documenting what happens between 2006 and Wide Awake's 2052.  Included within it are the destruction of:
  1. privacy on computers
  2. the record industry
  3. death by organ failure
  4. credit
  5. Social Security
  6. Europe
  7. the Fed
  8. a major U.S. political party
  9. the present-day dollar
in that order. Still have to destroy addictive drugs, Chinese Communism, and habeas corpus for clones.

(Edit: If you want to read it for some reason and you have a Google account, let me know and I'll add you as a viewer to Docs & Spreadsheets.)

From what I recall, while reading it it was a very plausible near-history (not quite like Snow Crash, but Snow Crash felt farther ahead - this is relatively near-future).

Chinese Communism and habeas corpus might easily be destroyed given what's going on. All you have to do is extrapolate. Then again, I might be a bit biased because I'm taking political science classes (in particular China's relations with Southeast Asia, overseas ethnic Chinese, and capitalism), and an immigration class that focuses on loss/appeal to habeas corpus and various interpretation of the law.
