That quote begs for context.

meanderings of thought
Very rarely are people actually bound into the stereotypes a society may craft regarding them. Geeks less so. We can exist without race, nationality, gender, or to an extent age. Competence, skills, knowledge, these things are our forte.

That said, the definition of what a person is is rather undefinable. (heh) People (in general, to my understanding) don't like being categorized and boxed up in their little defined partitions. People are diverse entities, but one tends not to see that until one actually gets to know them. And that tends not to happen if one's interaction with them only serves to judge and segregate us.

Then again, their primary interactive group, their society if you will, has a greater degree of acceptance. Then again, isn't that a stereotype too?

Maybe we've lessened suppression of the self.

Maybe every day, every moment of living is a challange to the accepted paradigm of what a person is "supposed" to be. Maybe my future is predestined, maybe not, but certainly not by you. Maybe your rules are bent, and maybe you don't like it. Maybe, your rules don't apply.
