Current partition table:
Mount PointDeviceSize
/boot/dev/hda132 MB
//dev/hda5470 MB
/home/dev/hda61 GB
/usr/dev/hda75 GB
/var/dev/hda82.25 GB
/tmp/dev/hda9256 MB
swap/dev/hda10750 MB

Desired partition table:
Mount PointDeviceSize
/boot/dev/hda132 MB
//dev/hda5470 MB
/home/dev/hda62 GB
/usr/dev/hda72 GB
/var/dev/hda82.5 GB
/tmp/dev/hda92.5 GB
swap/dev/hda10512 MB

GNU parted can't handle moving ext2 partitions. Thus, I have to go through a 12-step process to manage this:

1. Back up /var to my hard drive.
2. rm -rf /var/*.
3. cp /usr /var (in parted)--in progress.
4. Blow away /dev/hda7.
5. Resize /dev/hda6.
6. Re-create /dev/hda7.
7. cp /var /usr (in parted).
8. Blow away /dev/hda8.
9. Re-create /dev/hda8.
10. Blow away /dev/hda{9,10}.
11. Re-create /dev/hda{9,10}.
12. Restore /var from my hard drive.

This is going to take some doing.
