amused, silly, ha ha only serious

(no subject)

If you go back to my first entries on this journal, you'll notice they're from a trip I took in July--Liz gave me an invite code about halfway through it. Well, the travelogue for it is now up on Mom's site.

Enjoy.

(Warning: lots and lots and lots of pictures. If you're on dialup, minimize your browser for a few minutes, then come back to it when it's loaded.)

The tab is there to open the can / The can is there to hold in the spam

Well, I just switched my computer over to use IMAP instead of POP3 for my mail. This means all of my mail folders stay on the server, where I can use them to program my spam filters.

Why is this necessary? Consider the numbers:

Between February 10th at 7:51 pm and February 18th at 11:43 pm, I received 1,707 e-mails. 1,079 of those were spam. 559 were caught by SpamAssassin; 520 weren't caught.

I get a lot of spam.

[edit]If you're too lazy to do the math, I had 628 "ham" (non-spam) messages in that time period. And no, I don't count any old mail as spam--things like old lists don't count.[/edit]
