Name That tC Character!

I'm creating a new MT:tC character, currently named Jay Random (for the "J. Random Hacker" phrase popular in hackerdom). He'll be a Unix wizard (in the most literal sense of the word), and a new sysadmin for the UFL (read "new victim for the nurses"); I haven't figured out too much about him beyond that.

However, Meagen doesn't like the name, and I'm at a loss for alternatives. Any suggestions, minna?

Heh, there's already been a Jay Random on the forums, though I can't remember whether his character shared the same name, it's been a while.

So anyway, ideas... *rereads the description* *pauses on phrase "unix wizard"*

Oh, call him Tim!

Meagen just had an interesting suggestion, of "Kageno Neko", "Neko Kage", or something along those lines. The name means "shadow cat", and is derived from the command line "cat /etc/shadow", which might be an attempt to break Unix security. An added bonus is that cats are widely believed to have the hacker nature.

Any thoughts on this? (And don't let this stop you from coming up with other ideas!)

That sounds like a silly name.. perhaps you could take the "Kage" part of that, use the English pronunciation, and work from there. *sucks with names, but likes her suggestion*

Does this mean you'll be actively in the game again?

How about Awesome Man?

I always wondered why they didn't use that in a Mega Man game...

I would tender the suggestion of Eric Random - I'm at SANS this week, and they use Alice, Bob, and (evil) Eric for every single example. I've seen those three used in several security whitepapers as well.

*chuckles* I've always heard Eve (the eavesdropper) used as the evil one...

Okay, unless someone has an attack of the clevers, I'm going with Mahou's suggestion of Neko Einado (a rough translation of cat /etc/shadow).
